In Reading we are learning to make accurate predictions using what we know from the text so far. Our inference skills, which we developed in Autumn Term 1, are helping us with this. We are currently enjoying reading 'The Battle of Bubble and Squeak'.
Our focus this half term is writing fiction texts (stories). We are learning new writing techniques so that we can vary our sentence types and make our stories interesting to read!
This half term we are focusing on our 3, 4 and 8 times tables as well as learning new methods to multiply and divide numbers up to 3 digits! E.g. 4 X 56
In Science we are exploring Rocks and Soils. We have investigated the different types of rock such as sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous and will also be looking at fossils!
Volcanoes! Our topic this half term is volcanoes. We have been learning all about where in the world we find them and how they erupt. This is one of our favourite topics!
In P.E our focus has been invasion games. Skills such as finding and using space and communicating with other team members will support us when playing against another team. Sportsmanship is also really important within sports and will continue to be a focus of ours throughout Year 3.
In Year 3 this Christmas, the children will be making personalised cards and calendars to take home. Although we are currently in a global pandemic, we aim to make Christmas even more special than usual! We will be celebrating family and friendships, as well as learning all about how the tradition of Christmas began.
